Privacy Policy for Voxary

Voxary is a voice-notes app that lets you record audio, play it back, tag and search your notes, and — optionally — use AI to transcribe recordings, summarise them, and extract action items. Voxary is designed to be private by default: your recordings and notes stay on your device. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is protected.

Summary

• We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data.
• Your recordings, transcripts, summaries, tags and settings are stored locally on your device.
• There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party backend operated by us.
• AI features are optional. On-device processing sends nothing off your device.
• If you choose Cloud AI, audio and text are sent directly to the AI provider you select, using your own API key — never through us.

Information the app handles

The following information is created and kept only on your device and is never sent to us:

• Audio recordings — the voice notes you record, saved as audio files on your device.
• Note content — titles, tags, transcripts, summaries and action items associated with your recordings.
• App settings and preferences — such as your theme, chosen language, AI engine choice, and your Pro entitlement status.
• Your AI API key (only if you add one) — stored in the operating system’s secure storage on your device.

AI features and how your data is used

Voxary offers two AI modes, and you choose which one to use in Settings:

• On-device — processing happens locally on your device. No audio or text leaves your device for AI purposes.
• Cloud AI (bring your own key) — if you enable Cloud AI and provide your own API key, Voxary sends the relevant audio and/or text directly from your device to the AI provider you configure (for example, an OpenAI-compatible service you choose) solely to produce a transcript, summary, or action items. This happens only when you tap an AI action. The provider’s handling of that data is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy and terms. We do not operate this service, do not receive your data, and do not see your API key.

You are responsible for any usage costs billed by your chosen AI provider. You can switch back to on-device mode, remove your API key, or stop using AI features at any time.

Device permissions and why they are used

• Microphone — to record your voice notes. Audio is stored locally.
• Notifications — to show optional local reminders. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
• Biometric / fingerprint — to optionally lock the app. Authentication is performed by Android; Voxary never accesses or stores your fingerprint or face data.
• Internet — used only to complete in-app purchases through Google Play and, if you enable Cloud AI, to send requests to the AI provider you choose. Voxary does not otherwise send your data over the internet.

Purchases

Voxary offers a one-time in-app purchase (“Pro”) to unlock the AI features. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Voxary never sees or stores your payment card details; it only receives whether the purchase was successful so it can unlock the feature. Google’s handling of payment information is described in Google’s own privacy policy.

Data sharing

We do not share your data with anyone, because we do not collect it. Voxary contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no crash-reporting service operated by us. The only time your content leaves your device is when you use Cloud AI (to your chosen provider) or when you share or export a note using the Android share sheet.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored locally, you are always in control of it. You can delete individual notes within the app, and uninstalling Voxary removes all of its data from your device. Any notes you exported or shared yourself remain wherever you saved them until you delete them.

Children’s privacy

Voxary is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Your data resides on your device and is protected by your device’s own security. Your AI API key, if provided, is kept in the operating system’s secure storage. You can enable biometric lock within Voxary for an additional layer of protection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
